Beyonce, Jay-Z Snub Oscars? Couple Dined With Sarah Jessica Parker

Beyonce and Jay-Z were noticeably absent during Sunday night's 85th Academy awards ceremony and a new report claims that Hollywood power couple instead opted to have dinner in New York City.

The pair were reportedly spotted enjoying the evening at Freemans restaurant on the Lower East Side. Among other guests was "Sex & The City" star Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick. Both couples played pivotal roles in supporting President Barack Obama's reelection campaign in 2012.

"They completely blew off the Oscars," a source told The New York Post. "They didn't even have it on a TV screen. They were there until well after 1 a.m. with their friends, laughing and eating."

Beyonce, 31, recently stepped out accompanied by her husband on Feb. 12 for the red carpet premiere of her self-produced documentary "Life Is But A Dream." Just hours prior the singer opened up about their 4-year marriage in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

"I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man," Beyoncé told Winfrey.

The mother of one revealed that she and Jay-Z, 42, were close friends for at least 12 months before their friendship evolved. The pair would communicate via phone frequently and Beyonce believes that building a friendship is key to success in any solid relationship.

"That foundation is so important in a relationship and just to have someone that you just like, you know, is so important and someone that is honest," she explained.

While the couple is said to be happy in their marriage, Beyonce shared that they too go through ups and downs. In January 2012, the couple welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy Carter, and at the time, fans were unaware that the Grammy award-winning singer had previously suffered a miscarriage.

"About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time. And I hear the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life," she said in the documentary.

"I flew back to New York to get my check up – and no heartbeat. Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat," she continued, adding that the miscarriage is the "saddest thing I've ever been through."
