'Bible' Series Poster Revealed: Exclusive
The History Channel's "Bible" creators Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have released a poster from their upcoming series to The Christian Post on Friday.
Scheduled to premiere on The History Channel March 3, the "Bible" is an epic 10-part mini-series that will bridge the Old Testament with the New Testament.
In one of the few stills taken from the upcoming series, the new poster features Moses in deep thought. The incredibly detailed depiction of the famous Biblical character provides just a taste of what is in store with the "Bible" series.
The series will cover several in-depth portrayals of Bible stories "from Genesis to Revelation," explained Burnett, who is also the director of "Survivor."
A husband a wife team, Burnett and Downey, who is best known for her role on "Touched by an Angel," conceived the idea for the series on Scripture over three years ago.
"I've loved Jesus all my life," Downey told The Christian Post late last year. "It's a passion project for Mark and myself."
Alternately, as the producer of major hit shows including "The Apprentice" and "The Voice," Burnett has firsthand knowledge of how to create compelling television.
"'The Bible' is going to be seen by millions of people, and it looks like a $100 million feature film," said the creator of "The Apprentice."
While sometimes violent, "The Bible" offers visually enchanting depictions of well-known and beloved Biblical characters. Noah's Ark, the Exodus, Abraham, and the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are among the Bible stories covered in the highly anticipated television series.
It is the hope of Downey and Burnett that "The Bible" can become a template for learning and added to curriculums the world over.
"A great story that happens to be our faith," concluded Burnett while speaking to CP about the series.
The series sees stars such as "Game of Thrones" actors Sean Bean and Nonso Anozie, while Roma Downey herself portrays Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Following its March 3 premiere, remaining episodes of "The Bible" will air each Sunday with the finale arriving on Easter Sunday, March 31.
