Big Daddy Weave Takes Home 'Song of the Year' at K-LOVE Awards

Christian worship group Big Daddy Weave took home a Song of the Year award at Saturday's K-LOVE fan awards for their song "Redeemed."

The song is Big Daddy Weave's most successful song to date, having spent 12 weeks at No.1 on Christian radio charts. It has sold over 280,000 downloads.

The success was evident on the Billboard charts as well. "Redeemed" was nominated for Christian Song of the Year at the 2013 Billboard Awards show.

"I was shocked and overwhelmed," said Big Daddy Weave frontman Mike Weaver in an interview after the awards show. "I couldn't believe it. What an honor to be voted on by the listeners, especially in light of how many huge songs in that category that I'm a fan of. To win this award, then to be congratulated by the people from your favorite TV show was amazing -- it was like a dream! Thank you so much to K-LOVE for such a special weekend. This first-time event seems like the beginning of something big."

BDW just finished the spring portion of their "The Redeemed Tour," where they sold out shows on 49 different dates in 27 different states, a press release said. Chris August, Mikeschair, and Citizen Way joined them on the tour.

Most notably, World Vision sponsored the tour and over 2,000 new children's sponsorships were started.

The group will be embarking on another tour this fall called, "The Only Name Tour."

Big Daddy Weave gained attention after releasing their second album, One and Only, in 2002. They were nominated for a Dove Award that year. In 2010, they took home a Dove Award for their Christmas album, and they also released a greatest hits compilation titled The Ultimate Collection.
