Casey Anthony Trial: Will Court Release Tape Showing Her Reaction to Caylee Being Found?

Casey Anthony’s controversial jailhouse video may be released based on the decision of a Florida judge Wednesday.

Orange County Superior Court Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr., who presided over Anthony’s murder trial, will hear arguments regarding the release of the sealed tape at a hearing this afternoon.

The video shows Anthony’s response to the news that the remains of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, were found in the woods near her home.

The tape also reportedly has no sound.

A camera in the facility recorded Anthony’s reaction upon hearing Caylee’s body had been found. Anthony began breathing rapidly, her hands were sweaty, and red blotches appeared on her neck, an Orange County Corrections lieutenant told detectives.

In June 2009 Judge Stan Strickland, presiding judge at the time, ruled that the tape was “highly inflammatory” and sealed the video.

However, local Orlando, Florida news station WKMG-TV Channel 6 has filed a motion to unseal the video the Orlando Sentinel has reported.

In addition to having no news value, the footage also bears no prejudice to Anthony, who was acquitted of the murder charges in July, argued WKMG as reasons for the video’s release.

On Friday, Judge Perry ruled that Casey Anthony must pay $217,000, more than double the original fine, in costs related to the investigation and disappearance of Caylee.

An additional $119,000 was added to Anthony’s bill, according to AP.

Perry, who issued the first fine of $97,676.98, increased the reimbursement costs the 25-year-old owed four central Florida law enforcement agencies.

The additional payments came about after the Orange County Sheriff’s Office provided Perry with a better-detailed account of their costs.

According to Perry, creditors will have to sue Anthony to collect any money she receives from a book deal or the rights to her story. Anthony’s repayment order will be a civil judgment AP reported.

Casey Anthony is currently serving probation for check fraud charges at an undisclosed location in Florida.
