Clint Eastwood Chrysler Ad for Super Bowl XLVI Inspires Patriotic Stir (VIDEO)

Academy Award winning actor and director Clint Eastwood opted out of the usually funny or over sexualized Super Bowl advertisements and instead took the patriotic route in his Chrysler ad, which aired during Sunday night's match up.

In the sermon-like spot, Eastwood used the game of Football as a metaphor for the state of the United States' struggling car industry.

"It's halftime in America, too," Eastwood said in the spot's opening. "People are out of work and their hurting. They're all wondering what they're going to do to make a comeback. And we're all scared because this isn't a game. The people of Detroit know something about this… they almost lost everything."

"It's a whole different kind of theme from last year. It's all about the greatness of the country," executive vice president of Darcars Automotive Group in Silver Spring, Md., Tammy Darvish told the Detroit Free Press of the ad.

The commercial Darvish was referring to from last year featured Detroit native rapper, Eminem, for Chrysler. According to the Detroit Free Press, chairman of Chrysler's National Dealer Council, David Kelleher, believes Eastwood's ad is even better than Eminem's popular spot, which has since received over 21 million hits on YouTube.

"This country can't be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again and when we do the world is going to hear the roar of our engines," Eastwood, a long-time Republican and former mayor of his Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif., hometown said.

Other celebrities took to twitter to praise the actor and the inspirational Chrysler piece.

"And the winner is ......Clint Eastwood! Maybe the best commercial in history," tweeted country star Billy Ray Cyrus.

"And Clint, the consensus is u done a good thing standing up 4 Detroit--& your sermon seemed 2 b a call 2 give O his "second half," wrote liberal documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.
