Conan Pays a Heartfelt Tribute to the Paris Attack Victims - #JeSuisCharlie
Yesterday there was a terrorist attack on the French satirical magazine was a terrible violation on human life and freedom of speech. The attack left 12 dead and people in shock and possibly think twice before telling a joke.
On the Conan show, they consistently use many forms of comedy to make the audience laugh. For someone like him it affects him very much because being "funny" is his profession. Similar to the victims targeting in this heart wrenching attack. An attack like this made telling jokes and poking fun at authority figures something of a dangerous and politically-charged act. Should that really be the case?
Conan O'Brien started his show by sending his condolences to all those affected by this tragedy. He addressed this sad state of affairs and spoke about freedoms we take for granted in this country. He says "All of us are terribly sad for … anyone in the world tonight who now has to think twice before making a joke. It's not the way it's supposed to be."
He then proceeded to do his show in boldness of the actions of these terrorists.
