Dancing With the Stars: One Must 'Have Faith,' Says Chynna Phillips
After the fourth elimination of Chynna Phillips on season 13 of “Dancing with the Stars,” the singer has called the show “a popularity contest,” not a dancing competition.
“It really does come down to the votes, and that’s kind of sad because it’s supposed to be a dance competition, but it’s actually a popularity contest, which makes me kind of sad,” Phillips told the Huffington Post.
Formerly a member of Wilson Phillips, the singer added that the show really does revolve around the audience and voters.

“You know, you have to have a little bit of faith that there are people out there who are truly voting for their favorite dance, not their favorite person, because it is a dance competition and people are working really hard,” said Phillips.
The 43-year-old was eliminated along with her dance partner, Tony Dovolani, on Tuesday night after a low-scoring performance the day before.
After rehearsing for hours together, the dancing duo grew very close, and said they would remain friends.
Dovolani agreed with Phillips and told Huffington Post, “I’ve been on the show for 12 seasons, and Chynna has been a breath of fresh air for me. As much pull we have as teachers, in the end, it’s all about the celebrity.”
“I’m disappointed and I’m said,” said Phillips after being eliminated on Tuesday’s show. “But I have to take responsibility. I messed up and… I have an amazing partner. I love you, Tony.”
After the show, Phillips wrote messages of prayer and thanks for her fans on her Twitter account.
“Last night was tough. Thank you all for your votes. I pray that you all have a beautiful day. I am keeping my chin up! Thanks to you. Xo,” wrote Phillips.
Phillips and her former musical group just received the go-ahead from TV Guide Network for their series, “The Wilson Phillips Project,” which will follow the reunion of the singers and showcase their new music.
