Davey And Amanda Blackburn: 3 Things I'm Praying For
I woke up this morning to find that arrests had been made in regards to the murder of Amanda Blackburn.
A few hours later, Davey demonstrated incredible courage and a rock solid faith as he released this statement.
With all of this in mind I wanted our NewSpring family to know I am praying for three things ...
1. That Jesus will continue to do an amazing work in Davey and his and Amanda's family. That as the overwhelming emotions of bitterness and anger are sure to war against their souls in the next several weeks, months and even years that they will continue to trust that the whole world really is in the hands of an all powerful God — and He really does take all things and use them for the good of those who love him.
2. That justice will be served and those who did this will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. America has a justice system — and as flawed as it may seem to some people, it's the system that's been given to us. From this point we must pray for a fair trial, that the evidence is substantiated and it is overwhelmingly clear as to who is guilty in this case. And as the trials begin to happen, we must pray that the assailants would see the forgiveness Davey continually extends and be completely overwhelmed with the amazing grace of God that they would surrender their lives to Christ.
3. I really do hope and pray that Megyn Kelly, Jeanine Shapiro and FOX news will strongly consider issuing a public apology for the report that was aired on Thursday, November 12 on The Kelly File where Davey's involvement was called into question and essentially his name was dragged through the mud — which all led to a book promotion.
As a result of this report, internet trolls began popping up everywhere, accusing Davey and issuing their own "conspiracy theories" as to how he had to have somehow arranged this.
I have always admired Megyn Kelly and her journalistic ability, so when I saw this report by her on FOX I was both shocked and disgusted. The Kelly File should apologize for this as journalistic integrity was tossed out the window for the purposes of a book promotion.
I would ask our church family to please continue to pray for Davey as he has had to deal with countless internet bullies who have been ruthless, ungodly and venomous in their accusations against him. He has been cleared by the authorities (and has been for quite some time) and he does not need the opinion of those who have lots of time on their hands, access to the internet and zero true friends in their lives to sit in the cheap seats and launch verbal assaults at him.
He should not have to endure that — especially from those who call themselves Christians.
Our church will continue to walk with Davey through this process, and while we will grieve with him as he grieves, we will also celebrate that Jesus still has work to do in and through him in Indianapolis.
If you are reading this on FB and want to let Davey know you love and support him, then please feel free to leave a comment. If you are a troll who wants to use this platform to introduce your theory as to why he is not innocent, I will block your butt with zero apologies.
Davey has been so overwhelmingly thankful for the support of his NewSpring family in this tragic season of his life. We are praying and believing with him that in spite of the pain that is so real right now — in spite of the hurt — because of who Jesus is, the best really is yet to come!
