Trump's vice presidential running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, said on Sunday that he was glad Trump is safe following the apparent assassination attempt.

The Ohio lawmaker stated on social media that he spoke to Trump before news of the incident became public, saying that Trump was "amazingly, in good spirits."

"Still much we don't know, but I'll be hugging my kids extra tight tonight and saying a prayer of gratitude," Vance stated.
