Desperate Housewives to End Next Season
Could the ladies of “Desperate Housewives” be taking their last walk down Wisteria Lane?
An anonymous source close to the show has told the Associated Press that next season will be the ABC drama’s last.
The prime-time soap opera’s 2004 debut attracted an average of 23.71 million viewers per episode during its first season.

The housewives, Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Brenda Strong, and Andrea Bowen, became the fourth most watched show in the United States during the 2004-2005 season.
However, “Desperate Housewives” posted their lowest level in history this season, falling below 10 million viewers for the first time.
Another telling sign that “Desperate Housewives” is approaching the end of the road, or lane in this case, is show creator, Marc Cherry will not be producing next season’s episodes.
Cherry said he was stepping down from his duties to follow other projects and to deal with the lawsuit brought against him by ex-Wisteria Lane resident, Nicollette Sheridan.
Sheridan alleges wrongful termination from the show after getting into an argument with Cherry.
ABC is scheduled to discuss the fall schedule at a news conference on Sunday. The network declined to comment on the speculation.
“Desperate Housewives” new season premieres Sunday, September 25 at 9 p.m.
