'Duck Dynasty' Star Willie Robertson Says He'd Go Duck Hunting With Obama
Willie Robertson, star of the hit A&E reality show series "Duck Dynasty," said in a recent interview that he wouldn't mind spending some quality time with President Barack Obama while duck hunting, so the two could learn more about each other and discuss their beliefs, including politics.
Robertson, CEO of the Duck Commander family business, was in an interview with conservative radio host Laura Ingraham on Monday when she asked Robertson which American Democrat would he most like to hunt with and why. Robertson responded by saying "the president."
"I'd like to talk and debate and find out what's going on in his brain a little more," Robertson explained. "You know that's kind of my philosophy, I don't shy away from people I disagree with. I want to know why they think what they do and see if you can move to maybe change their thinking in some ways. I'm open myself. I keep an open mind to other people's beliefs."

"I'd like to get him out there with some camouflage and a gun and we could sit out there and talk," Robertson continued. "It's a fun time. That's the fun about hunting, especially duck hunting, is you can sit out there and talk. It's not like deer hunting where you got to be quiet." Robertson was clear in telling Ingraham that just because he and the president may disagree on certain political positions doesn't mean they couldn't have a civil conversation together.
The president has reportedly met members of the "Duck Dynasty" clan before. Earlier this year, Willie Robertson and his wife, Korie recalled briefly meeting the president when they attended his State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. Robertson told Jimmy Kimmel in an interview that the president joked about the reality star's casual attire of jeans, a blazer and a bandana, as the two had previously met at the White House Correspondents' Dinner where the well-known hunter wore a tux.
"The President is walking down the hall, and he sees me and he goes, 'Willie! What's up?'" Robertson told Kimmel. "And I'm like, 'Hey! What's up!' So we're talking, and we're having this conversation."
"He's like, 'Where's the tux?'" Robertson recalled. "I'm like, 'This is my State of the Union attire.'"
The president has also commented on the "Duck Dynasty" clan, telling People magazine in December 2013 that the Louisiana-based family seems like a "pretty fun bunch."
Although Willie Robertson is a conservative and pro-Second Amendment rights, the reality television show star previously said he agrees with the president on background checks for firearms. "I'm okay with a background check. I have a lot of weapons and every time I have to go fill out the paperwork to get the weapon," he told Fox News last year.
