'DWTS' Ninth Elimination Tonight: Hope Solo Sent Home?

The final four contestants on “Dancing with the Stars” have received their performance scores and await elimination Tuesday.

Monday night consisted of three dances by each remaining contender, and proved that Ricki Lake and her partner Derek Hough are still the strongest challengers. The dancing duo earned the night’s highest score with 67 points.

“I can taste the finals,” Lake said backstage of “DWTS” following her performance.

Reality television star Rob Kardashian trailed shortly after Lake after he and his partner Cheryl Burke gave a lively performance of the samba.

“It’s my time to peak,” said Kardashian ahead of his performance, which earned him 65 points for the night.

Finishing in third place, J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff performed a paso doble. Usually top performers, the couple received 56 points Monday night – possibly due to Martinez suffering a twisted ankle last week.

The actor and war veteran said backstage, “I’m a little disappointed” of his weakest performance yet.

“Obviously, I injured my ankle. We worked so hard all week and then on Friday I twisted my ankle and the routines weren’t delivered the way that we would have liked,” stated Martinez.

He added, “When I spun her around on the floor there was another lift, it was a really powerful move but the way it puts pressure on my leg, it didn’t feel right.”

Hope Solo and her partner Maks Chmerkovskiy are at the bottom of the scoreboard on Tuesday. The couple received a total of 49 points for their performances Monday night.

The soccer star described a past shoulder injury, saying, “I’m in pain pretty much the entire time on the dance floor.”

The couple is in jeopardy of elimination tonight after remaining through eight previous elimination rounds.

“DWTS” airs on ABC Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST.
