Egypt's Great Pyramids to be Covered in Wax? (PHOTOS)

The Islamic Salafist party in Egypt and prominent Muslim clerics want to cover the Great Pyramids in wax, in an attempt to destroy the "idolatrous" symbols.

FrontPage Magazine recently reported that they began to call for the demolition of pyramids of Giza in an effort to bring down what it calls "symbols of paganism."

Bahrain's "Sheikh of Sunni Sheikhs" and President of National Unity, Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud, called on Egypt's new president, Muhammad Morsi, to "destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what the Sahabi Amr bin al-As could not," the conservative publication reported.

Amr bin al-As, a companion of Islam's founder Muhammad, was known as a military commander who led the Muslim conquest of Egypt in 641 and began destroying Egyptian artifacts.
