'Final Fantasy XIII-2' New Trailer Shows the 'The Battle Of Valhalla' (VIDEO)

A new trailer for "The Battle of Valhalla" cinematic sequence for “Final Fantasy XIII-2” debuted today.

This new piece of footage shows an action-packed scene pitting the entry's last main character Lightning against newcomer Caius' army. The epic battle scenes depicted in this video should encourage gamers to get excited for the official release in 2012.

Square-Enix touted this new entry into the "Final Fantasy" series in a prior statement: "The sequel has evolved beyond its predecessor, with an extraordinary level design encouraging exploration, an enhanced battle system allowing players to command monsters and a variety of options that support multiple playthroughs."

This upcoming sequel will now let gamers take control of the bow-wielding Serah and a new character named Noel.

The story from the first iteration of the story will be continued here - a rare case for the "Final Fantasy" franchise.

"Final Fantasy XIII-2" will hit stores on Jan. 31, 2012. A special collector's edition for the game will be available to gamers.

Game Stop, Amazon and Best Buy will carry the collection for $79.99. A four-disc original soundtrack and a collection of concept artwork will come packaged with this version of the game.

The concept artwork will feature material from the making of "Final Fantasy XIII-2," along with a variety of never-before-seen illustrations including environments and more.

The premium packaging will sport special artwork by Yoshitaka Amano.

Publisher of the game, Square-Enix, posted a press release on the special edition of its upcoming game: "Square Enix, Inc, today announced a collector’s edition for Final Fantasy XIII-2. Final Fantasy XIII-2 is developed for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360 video game entertainment system from Microsoft."

The previous entry, "Final Fantasy XIII," was successful after its official release. It shipped 6.2 million units worldwide since its March 2010 launch.
