Football and Eli Manning: Twitter Chooses Manning as Best QB

Even though Eli Manning and the New York Giants are listed as underdogs for this year's Super Bowl, they are still being treated as though they are the favorites.

With continued praise for being one of the top quarterbacks in the league while also being one of the games soft-spoken and humble players, Eli Manning has won over skeptics and continues to delight fans.

It might be that this started four years ago when the Giants last faced the Patriots and in one of the best Super Bowls ever played upset a team looking to go undefeated, and who were also considered to be one of the best teams of all time.

So it comes as no surprise that it is not just people who are singing Eli's praises but in fact computers are favoring the reserved and fearless Manning.

San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith, who was forced to trade Manning to New York after he refused to play for the Chargers, considers him to be one of the best players in the league.

"What Eli Manning has done clearly puts him in that upper echelon of quarterbacks in this league, that's not even a question…what he is great at is winning."

Smith continues, "He has a Super Bowl. He has the road wins in the playoffs. If he gets that second Super Bowl win, or even if he doesn't, he has shown the ability to win in big games and that's what we're talking about here."

And it is not just people who are convinced that Manning is an all-time great, computers are calculating that as well.

IBM analyzed more than 1 million Super Bowl-related tweets to determine who is the best quarterback, Eli Manning or Tom Brady.

Manning earned a 66-percent positive rating while Brady only received 61 percent, according to the report.

IBM considered that a "digital upset" due to the fact that "many would assume that Brady should be far ahead given his lofty status as an elite quarterback for many years and three championship rings," Business Insider reported.
