Galaxy Nexus Release Date: New Smartphone Trumps Galaxy S2
Google and Samsung might just have created the perfect smartphone to succeed their Galaxy S2 with the new Galaxy Nexus.
In terms of features and specs, the new Galaxy Nexus handset not only matches up to the Galaxy S2, but completely shows it up in certain areas.
One of these areas is with the Android Beam feature, which is powered by NFC.

Android Beam allows users to transfer media and content by simply touching their Android phones together.
A picture, music or even a webpage will instantly appear on the other handset once it makes contact.
Samsung's Galaxy S2 does not have NFC, nor can it transfer data in the same manner.
The Galaxy Nexus will include a 5 megapixel camera which is capable of filming in 1080p HD.
The Galaxy S2 also sports a 5 megapixel camera which can film video at 720p HD.
While both cameras are impressive, video can be enjoyed in higher quality on the Galaxy Nexus’s 4.65 Super AMOLED display, which the company aimed to have the appearance of a widescreen television with a 16:9 ratio.
The Galaxy S2’s display is only 4.3- inches and has an 800x480 pixel resolution where the Galaxy Nexus’s is 1280x720.
Google also aimed at making its new Ice Cream Sandwich software which will be featured on the new Nexus smartphone more personal.
Instead of having to touch your phone or enter a code on the keypad in order to unlock it, Ice Cream Sandwich can simply do so by facial recognition.
A user can access their device by simply looking into its front camera.
The Galaxy S2 still uses traditional methods for unlocking.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 is now available on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. The Galaxy Nexus will ship in November.
