Garth Brooks Debuts Song 'Mom' On Live TV, 'Conversation Between God and Unborn Baby' Moves Audience to Tears
Garth Brooks appeared on "Good Morning America" where he performed the touching new song "Mom" from his new album "Man Against Machine" in front of an emotional audience on Friday morning.
Before introducing the song, Brooks told "GMA" host Robin Roberts that he was honored to bring the Creator and music together. Furthermore, the iconic country music star described "Mom" as "a conversation that goes on between God and this unborn baby who's about to go down to Earth."
Brooks, who is currently on The Garth Brooks World Tour, went on to share an acoustic version of "Mom" that includes the lyrics: "A little baby told God, 'Hey I'm kinda scared, don't really know if I wanna go down there, because from here it looks like a little blue ball, but that's a great big place and I'm so small. Why can't I just stay here with you? Did I make you mad, don't you want me, too?' And God said, 'Oh child, of course I do, but there's somebody special that's waiting for you.'"

As the performance went on, Brooks was overcome with emotion while singing about the unborn child's mother.
"So hush now baby, don't you cry, 'cause there is somebody down there waiting…" he sang at the start of the chorus, before emotionally breaking down.
Despite the strong feelings invoked by the song, Brooks went on to complete the chorus, which describes the mother-to-be as a "loving angel, tender, tough and strong." Then, in the second verse of "Mom," Brooks crooned, "She'll put you on the path that will bring you back to Me."
"Come on child, it's time to meet your mom," the song concludes.
During the performance, the camera panned to Roberts, who was one of the many listeners moved to tears. After finishing the song, even Brooks himself cried as the crowd erupted in cheers. Moreover, on Twitter, thousands of "GMA" viewers sounded off on Brooks' new song.
"Well, thank you #GarthBrooks for making my mascara run so early in the morning," user Mel posted. "What a touching performance on @GMA!"
Patrick added, "The new Garth Brooks song on @GMA was incredible. He's right, Rivals The Dance."
"You will not find anyone who loves his job and the music he plays [more] than Garth Brooks. Every lyric and word is emphasized," Charlie wrote.
"Mom" is off of Brooks' new album "Man Against Machine," which is the singer's first studio record in over 13 years.
