Harold Camping Oct. 21 Rapture: What Is Camping's State of Health?

Harold Camping has not made an appearance before cameras or directly behind his Family Radio microphone in months. Some are now beginning to wonder about the 90-year-old broadcaster's state of health.

On June 9 of this year, Camping suffered a stroke and was hospitalized. On Sept. 20, Family Radio posted a "special announcement" on its website which read: "By God's mercy Mr. Camping has been able to return home, where he is continuing his recuperation in the care of his dear wife."

An audio message from Camping was posted sometime afterward, in which the California broadcaster provided an update of his condition, and offered revelatory comments about Oct. 21, his latest promoted date for the end of the world.

Recently, Tom Evans, who has acted as a liaison between Camping and the media, posted a biblical guide on Family Radio's website, concerning Camping's end-time predictions.

As the Oct. 21 date approached, Evans sought to allay doubts of followers who had become skeptical, due to Camping's previously erroneous assertions, more specifically, his heavily promoted May 21 end of the world prophecy.

Evans, who has worked with Family Radio for 25 years in various capacities, is reported to have known Camping for at least 30 years.

In an article by the San Francisco Gate, an apparently exasperated Evans, perhaps besieged by questions concerning Camping's miscalculations, said: "We said all we were going to say after May 21. There's nothing more or new to say now."

But what about Camping? Questions are beginning to emerge about the noticeable absence of the radio host, and why he has not been seen or heard from since at least September.

As the clock ticks down to the cataclysmic state of what the Bible teacher refers to as the end of the world, some are beginning to focus, more immediately, on the state of Camping's health.
