Ice Cream Sandwich Release Date: Developer Calls iOS Cartoonish

Matias Duarte, Android’s head of user experience, recently appeared on ‘”On The Verge,” a new internet technology show, and expressed his views on iOS while also discussing the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Duarte’s words for Apple's well-known operating system were anything but kind, calling it cartoonish and explaining that a website or magazines appearance on it would make the publication or website laughable for users.

He expressed an even more critical opinion in the past of Microsoft’s Windows Phone system stating it looks like “bathroom signage in an airport.

Verge host Joshua Topolsky called him out during the interview for the comments Duarte made regarding the Windows system.

He attributed the system’s weaker appearances to poor design choices on the part of their developers

Matias also performed demonstrations using the new Galaxy Nexus, including a live video chat where he blurred and used effects on the users face during the conversation.

He called out traditional features of point and shoot cameras, such as white balance, deeming them as “crap.”

“If it’s not immediately obvious, it’s something the machine should be taking care of for you,” said Duarte.

Duarte went on to defend Google’s choice to create the new Roboto font for Ice Cream Sandwich after numerous criticisms have surfaced regarding the new graphic interface.

“When they call your children ugly nobody likes it,” Duarte said defending Roboto

He also addressed the controversy of Ice Cream Sandwich’s facial recognition feature that was recently cracked by a user with a still image.

Topolsky also asked when the Galaxy Nexus would launch and Duarte provided him with a basic answer.

“You will be able to purchase it in November,” he said.

Ice Cream Sandwich was announced to launch on the new device at Samsung’s “Mobile Unpacked” event last month.
