Ice Cream Sandwich Release Date: System Comes to Motorola Xoom First?

The Motorola Xoom will be the first device aside from the Nexus Prime to update to the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, according to recent report from Droid-Life.

Nexus S and Nexus One owners are naturally assuming that they would be next up to receive the update for their smartphones.

Droid-Life seems to feel that it is a “pretty safe bet” that the Motorola Xoom will be first in line for the Ice Cream Sandwich OS upgrade.

Google’s new OS is expected to debut within the next 24 hours at Samsung’s “Mobile Unpacked” event.

The Google Nexus Prime smartphone along with Ice Cream Sandwich are expected to be unveiled at the event.

Google Nexus Prime will officially be the first device to run on the new Ice Cream Sandwich.

Following it should be the Motorola Xoom, according to Droid-Life.

A video leaked recently of a Samsung Galaxy S2 running Ice Cream Sandwich, but this was later found to be fake.

“Mobile Unpacked” will take place in Hong Kong on Oct. 19.

For Samsung fans living in the U.S., the event's streaming will begin at 9:30 p.m. tonight and can be seen at youtube.com/android.

The Google Nexus Prime will also go head to head with Apple’s extremely successful iPhone 4S.

The new iPhone has already sold 4 million units more than doubling the sales of the previous Apple smartphone, the iPhone 4.

Samsung’s Galaxy S2 seemed to fare well against the iPhone 4, but is no match for the iPhone 4S which includes impressive new features like Siri.

The new Nexus Phone is expected to be powerful enough to give the new iPhone a run for its money.

With this being said, it is likely that the Samsung smartphone will be unveiled tonight.
