One reader, named Michael, asked: “What are the chances of my LG Revolution getting the ICS update?”

Reardon replied that it is difficult to predict which phones will be able to upgrade; however, she assumed most Androids will get the update, because Google eventually offered Gingerbread, its previous operating system, to most Android users.

She also inquired about the issue with a representative from Google. The Google representative said there are no specific hardware requirements to run Ice Cream Sandwich on a device, but Android devices that are older will probably not receive the update.

Reardon said most devices that receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update would most likely be the heavily marketed ones by the main manufacturers. Thus, the newest and hottest Android handsets will be first to be upgraded.

Various devices are expected to receive an upgrade to the operating system, such as Motorola’s upcoming Droid Razr, Samsung’s Galaxy S2 and the XOOM tablet.
