iPhone 5 Release: Video of First Prototype Leaked?

A video has been posted by 9to5 Mac that contains footage of someone supposedly testing an iPhone 5 prototype which the site believes is most likely staged.

The video was found on a Chinese forum by 9to5 who gave it to someone who is running it by some higher ups at the moment for clarification.

The iPhone 5 prototype in the video resembles an iPhone 4, not the tear-drop shaped drastically altered version that has been rumored to be coming out for quite some time now.

In the short film, the user seems to be pointing out features to prove that is an updated iPhone and not the last generation version.

There is also a possibility that the smartphone being used could be the iPhone 4S.

Back in the early summer, 9to5Mac reported on two new iPhones that were being produced including a drastically new designed iPhone 5 and an updated version of the iPhone 4.

The updated iPhone 4 went on to inherit the name iPhone 4S and the redesigned model was coined the tear-drop shaped iPhone 5.

The iPhone 4S is rumored to maintain mostly the same body type as the previous model, but may take a step down in specs to make the device more affordable.

The iPhone 5 is rumored to be thinner, sleeker, and sport a larger screen which Apple is incorporating to compete better with the current smartphone market leader, Android.

Apple is holding a media event on October 4 at its Cupertino, California Campus headquarters.

The company is supposed to reveal its new iPhone on that day.

Some analysts are predicting and iPhone 4S release for this year and maybe a iPhone 5 one next year.

Others are confident that Apple will be pulling out the big guns at the event and unveiling its “Android killer” the iPhone 5.
