Is Khloe Kardashian's Husband Lamar Odom Depressed?

Lamar Odom is still struggling with his trade from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks which occurred in December, and new reports suggest that he may be suffering from depression as a result.

The 13-year NBA veteran has reportedly suffered much heartbreak as of late, including unwillingly being traded after seven years with the Lakers and almost being dropped to the Texas Legends who are in the D-League.

Sources insist his battles have not yet affected his 3-year marriage to reality star Khloe Kardashian, according to HollyWood Life.

"Khloé has really tried to help while [Lamar] has been depressed. It's been quite the uphill battle. They still have a tight bond ...[it] isn't affecting the marriage yet," a source told HL.

Since 32-year-old power forward has posted some of his lowest stats since joining the Mavericks, which some critics attribute to his initial reluctance to being traded.

Odom reportedly felt disrespected when he first heard about rumors that the Lakers were trading him, and emotionally opened up about his feelings to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

"[The Lakers] don't want my services, for whatever reason ... I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I was proud to be a Laker, so I'll try to help them in the process as much as possible," Odom told Turner.

On March 2, Odom, 32, was assigned to the Texas Legends after taking a break from playing with the Mavericks, which his team affiliates said was to strengthen his legs and regain his court skills.

After much controversy, the stint was canceled, and Odom rejoined the Mavericks on March 3, where he now remains.

Odom had reportedly taken a brief break just before the NBA All-Star game to attend to tend to his seriously ill father, Joe, which is yet another hurdle that he has been forced to deal with, according to Radar Online.

"Lamar's dad is gravely ill, and he wanted time off to be with him. Khloe and Lamar were really upset about the news about Joe. They're putting their schedules on hold right now to be there for him," a source told Radar.

"It's a really serious medical condition. This is the peak of the season, the Mavs really needed Lamar because the team depends on him, but they totally understand that family comes first," the source added.

Odom and Kardashian have also been very open about their struggles to conceive since being married in 2009.
