'Jewish People Need to Accept Jesus,' Urges Chosen People Ministries President

NEW YORK -- The president of messianic Jewish group Chosen People Ministries has urged Jewish people to accept Jesus Christ as their Messiah at a conference earlier in October exploring recent Middle East events and Biblical prophecy.

"I believe that Jewish people need to consciously accept Jesus as their Messiah in order to have a place in the world to come," Dr. Mitch Glaser said in his address at Calvary Baptist Church.

"The saving faith grows out of a spirit enlightened understanding of the gospel," he continued. "Often times when I speak about a glorious future for Israel and for the Jewish people, some people misunderstand that, and think that you can have that future without the king – you can't. Yeshua is the key to everything."

The People, the Land, and the Future of Israel conference attracted hundreds of people according to a press release by Chosen People, and was co-sponsored by the ministries of Joel C. Rosenberg, an evangelical Christian and New York Times bestselling author, who has written a number books with end times themes. It featured renowned scholars and speakers including Darrell Bock, Craig Blaising, Mike Wilkins, John Feinberg, Craig Evans, Michael Brown, and was designed "to help Christians develop a deeper understanding of current and future events in the Middle East through the lens of Scripture."

Chosen People noted that each of the conference speakers were committed to a number of biblical principles : that God has a continuing plan for the Jewish people, that the land of Israel ultimately belong to the Jewish people, and that reaching Jewish people with the gospel is crucial.

Dr. Glaser sat down for an interview with The Christian Post in September before the conference, and said that there is "no doubt" that God has chosen the Jewish people.

"He gave them a land and has a purpose for the Jewish people, which in Genesis 12:3 is to bless the world. So the story of the Bible is really the story of God developing his plan through the Jewish people for the world. The Bible is really written from a Jewish perspective. All the prophets were Jewish; all the writers of the Bible were Jewish," Glaser told CP.

"Whenever the Jewish prophets speak about the rest of the world, the Bible looks at the rest of the world from a Jewish perspective and how what is happening in the nations of the world impacts Israel and the Jewish people. I believe that watching Israel is a good idea for everybody because Israel is a bellwether for what God is doing in the world. If you want to know what's happening, look at Israel."

The lectures from October's conference will be compiled into a book by Kregel Publications, to be released sometime next year, and will be the third volume in a series edited by Glaser and Dr. Darrell Bock of Dallas Theological Seminary.
