Jockey Underwear Offers $1 Million if Tebow Wins Playoffs
Jockey, the underwear maker, has announced Thursday that the company will give away $1 million in cash prizes and gift cards if quarterback Tim Tebow leads the Denver Broncos to a Super Bowl title.
Jockey is calling it the “Jockey $1 Million ‘Super’ Challenge Sweepstakes.” The online sweepstakes started December 15 and customers who make a purchase on Jockey.com on or after that date are automatically entered. People can also be entered by registering for the sweepstakes at Jockey.com/Tebow.
Jockey’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dustin Cohn, said in a press release that Tebow has proven to be a gifted athlete, leader and winner.
“In fact, we at Jockey believe in Tim so much, that we’re offering the chance to celebrate history in the making in a big way,” Cohn said.
If Tebow takes the Broncos (8-5) to the Super Bowl and wins, 40,000 contestants will be awarded a $25 Jockey gift card. One grand prize winner will win $15,000 in cash to honor Tebow’s number 15. The sweepstakes will last until the Super Bowl on Feb. 5, 2012, or until the Broncos are eliminated from the playoffs.
If fans are wondering how much of a realistic chance Tebow and the Broncos have of winning the Super Bowl, held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, they have good reason to be confident.
Despite critics citing his awkward throwing motion and low offensive production in the first three quarters of games, Tebow is 7-1 as a starter and the Broncos are at the top of the AFC West Division. Only the New York Giants’ Eli Manning has more fourth quarter comeback wins than Tebow this year with six. Tebow has five.
It is reported that the Broncos have 25-to-1 odds of winning a championship this year. Those are the same odds Eli Manning had in Super Bowl 42, when he and the Giants knocked off the previously undefeated New England Patriots.
The Broncos face the Patriots (10-3) this Sunday in Denver. It will be a true test to see if the Broncos truly are a championship-caliber team. The Patriots, led by three-time super bowl champion Tom Brady, are a top seeded playoff team in the AFC and are a Super Bowl favorite every year.
Patriots’ coach Bill Bellicheck is considered a master schemer and strategist in the NFL. They could pose the biggest threat to stop the Broncos’ unorthodox style of offense, led by Tebow. However, if Tebow manages to squeeze out another win against a juggernaut like the Patriots, Jockey could experience an overflow of fans entering the Jockey $1 Million Super Challenge Sweepstakes Monday morning.
