Justin Bieber Baby Drama: Bieber to Appear on 'Maury Povich Show' for Paternity Test?

The Justin Bieber baby scandal is on top of every news cycle, and the upcoming paternity test would be of interest to any daytime talk show. In particular, the "Maury Povich Show."

The television series host is thinking about banking on the entire issue. Maury Povich is known for handling dramatic paternity issues, and Bieber's case fits right into the format of the show.

Povich has apparently invited Bieber to appear on the show to handle the issue involving the paternity claim made by Maria Yeater. It is doubtful Bieber will take Povich up on the offer, but the idea of the paternity suit being settled live on air would make for great television.

A spokesperson for the "Maury Povich Show" told The Huffpost Celebrity that they "are actively pursuing this story."

"I know I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim," Bieber told the "Today" show. Justin claims that he has never even met Yeater, although court papers filed by Yeater and her attorneys last week claim she and the pop singer met backstage at an L.A. concert in 2010.

If Povich told the world that Bieber is "not the father," it would answer everyone's questions. But Justin Bieber appears focused on the music and the positive aspects of his life, so taking this serious matter on Maury may not be in his best interest, observers have said.

"This would be a huge TV event," Amy Rosenblum, former executive producer of "Maury," told the Huffpost Celebrity. "When I brought the DNA test to TV for the first time on Maury, I had no idea it would still be as popular today as it was then. Maury is trusted by millions of viewers and if Maury told Justin 'You are not the father,' everyone would believe it."

Perhaps Beiber will be able to settle this matter quickly and avoid bringing more attention to this story. But, if he takes Maury up on his offer, there is no doubt everyone would tune in to see Povich say, "you are not the father."
