Justin Bieber Gets a Cross Tattoo on His Face to Show His Faith in Jesus

Singer Justin Bieber has more than 50 tattoos, but he got yet another one as he stopped by West 4th Tattoo Parlor in New York City. The latest is on his face, and it's a cross, "a representation of his faith in Jesus."

The 22-year-old pop star, who is travelling across the country to promote Purpose, his latest album released in November 2015, posted a casual selfie on Instagram to show off his new ink Saturday evening – a small cross to the side of his right eye.

"Yes, I did tattoo a small cross near the corner of Justin's eye," tattoo artist Jonathan "JonBoy" Valena told E! News. "It was a representation of his faith in Jesus and his journey with finding purpose in God."

Bieber's friend Joe Termini got a matching tattoo on his face, according to Us magazine.

Bieber recently told GQ magazine that he wanted to get a tattoo on his face but only after a few decades. "Maybe when I'm really old, not super old, but maybe, like, 40s or 50s or something," he said. "One above my eyebrow or something small… I think if they're done right, they could be cool, but nothing super crazy all over the face."

The pop star also told the magazine that he would be a terrible person without God. "I feel like that's why I have a relationship with Him, because I need it. I suck by myself. Like, when I'm by myself and I feel like I have nothing to lean on? Terrible. Terrible person," he said.

He admitted to doing "stupid" things, but explained that his actions would be worse without God.

"If I was doing this on my own, I would constantly be doing things that are, I mean, I still am doing things that are stupid, but. … It just gives me some sort of hope and something to grasp onto," Bieber added. "A feeling of security, and a feeling of being wanted, and a feeling of being desired, and I feel like we can only get so much of that from a human."

Bieber has developed close bonds with the likes of Pastor Carl Lentz of Hillsong New York City and Pastor Judah Smith from The City Church in Seattle, Washington, throughout the years.

Last year, the young pop star invited his interviewer from Billboard to church with him where Pastor Smith preached the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The popular entertainment publication went as far as sharing pieces of the sermon, quoting Smith as he said, "He's the relationship and the friendship you've been craving your whole life. If you believe that with all of your heart, every ounce of your being, I'm going to count to three, and then I'm going to ask you to lift up your hand."
