Justin Timberlake, *NSYNC Reunion at VMAs: 'Too Short' Like Destiny's Child, Say Fans (VIDEO)

Justin Timberlake and *NSYNC reunited for a brief nostalgic performance during the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday, but now fans were wondering why their stage time was so short. The group came together again after Timberlake accepted his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.

Justin Timberlake and *NSYNC's reunion came after he was solely introduced by Jimmy Fallon as the "President of Pop"— a title the "Mirrors" singer didn't deny. Timberlake was honored for making various groundbreaking pop music videos throughout his career, but remembered to thank the group that was his stepping stone to solo stardom.

"I don't deserve this award, but I'm not going to give it back. I'm taking this home. Every video director that I've had the fortune of working with, I owe this award to you," the 32-year-old told fans on stage. "Half of the moon men I've ever won, I won with those four men right there [Timberlake pointed to *NSYNC]. … I'm going to share this award with them."

Timberlake, who has won 14 VMA awards total, then took the stage for a nearly 15-minute performance, starting with single "Take Back The Night" and going through crowd favorites like "SexyBack," "My Love," "Cry Me A River," "Senorita" and "Like I Love You." During the performance, the much-rumored moment fans had been waiting for finally came.

"Y'all asked for it," Timberlake said as bandmates Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick appeared behind him bathed in blue light.

The *NSYNC reunion began with their song "Girlfriend," followed by some smooth and quite coordinated dance moves. Crowd reactions were approaching their peak— Taylor Swift in particular was captured smiling like one of the band's famous young fangirls— then *NSYNC started with "Bye Bye Bye" and the audience in Brooklyn's Barclay's Center went wild.

However, seemingly soon as it began, it was over. The entire reunion clocked in at about two minutes, including the long introduction. It was a move that fans were vocal about, even comparing it to Beyonce's performance at the Super Bowl, where she reunited with Destiny's Child for about a minute longer.

"Nsync performing at the VMA could be recorded via Vine. It was so short," tweeted migomuyot.

"I know there wasn't much time to rehearse something big, but Justin treated them worse than Beyonce to Destiny's Child at the Super Bowl!" user Vileplume wrote on the Billboard blog.
