Kate Winslet: 'I Will Never Give in' to Plastic Surgery

Kate Winslet and a few of her Hollywood friends have testified that they will not cave into the Hollywood pressure to have plastic surgery.

The 35-year-old Titanic actress that has starred in several successful films since her big movie debut in the United States has told The Daily Telegraph that cosmetic surgery is “against my morals.”

Winslet grew up in a small family in Berkshire with her two sisters and parents, who were both “working actors.” She has described her upbringing as “very hand to mouth.”

In a sign of true dedication to her craft she told the publication, “I am an actress, I don’t want to freeze the expression on my face.”

She is not alone is the battle against undergoing invasive and dangerous surgeries to appear younger. Other British Hollywood powerhouses Emma Thompson and Rachel Weisz have also expressed their disinterest with transforming their physical appearance in an attempt to avoid the inevitable.

Some reports are even surfacing saying that the three women have formed a "British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League."

E! Entertainment, however, has reported that the league is simply a rumor, though this is not the first time that the Oscar-winning actress has made headlines for her perspective on physical appearance.

Winslet has also been a pioneer on another Hollywood issue that has witnessed a heated debate throughout the years; weight.

She has admitted to being teased as a child over her weight and called “blubber” by her peers. She struggled with her weight as a result and even admitted to being addicted to losing weight at the age of 15.

However, by the time she landed in Hollywood she had become an avid campaigner for women to stay true to themselves and love themselves as they are. She even went so far as to vow never to become a “stick insect.”

Kate’s weight made mass headlines in 2003 over a GQ magazine cover in which the magazine digitally altered her legs.

Inside the magazine she was quoted as saying, “I’m completely physically comfortable with who I am and I have no particular issues anymore and I don’t feel I have to run around waving my flag about the female body anymore.”
