Brand’s mother Barbara posted a message on Twitter about the couple the day after the rumors broke. “Spoke to Russell and Katy today – they’re so happy. We’ll all be together for Christmas,” she wrote.

However,, the couple spent Christmas apart and has sparked fresh rumors of a divorce. A source close to the couple spoke with HollywoodLife.com and affirmed that the superstars’ marriage is crumbling.

“Katy and Russell are just in two very different places right now in their lives,” said the insider. “Their marriage is not working out. He’s in recovery and really trying to stay clean, but her lifestyle isn’t helping him at all.”

Perry, 27, is currently experiencing a career high, becoming the first female singer to get five hits on the Billboard Hot 100 within one year. The insider explained that her busy schedule and priorities may be the cause of the rocky marriage.

“Katy is on fire right now,” said the source. “She’s touring and going out all the time, she’s not ready to settle down and be ‘Mrs. Brand,’ but that’s what Russell wants.”

Perry has also denied recent reports of both her pregnancy and divorce earlier this month, writing on her Twitter account, “First I’m pregnant & then I’m divorced. What am I All My Children?!”

The singer also recently posted, “Just cause we don’t flaunt our relationship doesn’t mean there’s something wrong w/it. Privacy is our luxury [sic].”

Reps for both Perry and Brand have not responded to inquiries about their marriage.
