Kim Kardashian Divorce: KK Cancels Engagements After Divorce Upset

Kim Kardashian says she has learned her lesson and may need to step away from the public eye in the wake of her shocking divorce announcement.

In an interview with Australia's Sunrise morning show on Thursday, Kardashian said hearing rumors throughout her short-lived marriage have been upsetting.

"What upsets me most is that there has been, from the start, so many rumors of money and dollar signs," Kardashian said. "I think that [it] also just teaches me I kind of want to step back a little bit."

The reality television star traveled to Australia with sister Khloé and NBA playing brother-in-law Lamar Odom to promote the new Kardashian Kollection handbag line. Although Kim was scheduled to make additional appearances after her first televised interview, she decided it was time to take a break away from cameras.

"I'm very disappointed that I am unable to attend the Swisse marquee but I hope to come back and work with the Swisse team at another point in time," she said about canceling out on an event on Saturday, according to Us Weekly.

Kardashian said she understood the criticism from people who watched the ups and downs of her life play out on television, including a 72-day marriage and recent divorce announcement.

"It's kind of what you get for living your life so publicly," she told Australia's Sunrise morning show. "I get that."

However, Kardashian said she had to please her own heart, not others.

"I think when you know so deep in your heart that you just to listen to your intuition and follow your heart, there's no right or wrong thing to do," Kardashian said. "I can't really live my life for what people are going to say and not say. It's hurtful, and I certainly didn't want to disappoint anyone, but first and foremost, I have to follow my heart."

Despite the scrutiny she has received, Kardashian said she enjoys sharing her life. However, she maintained that she needed more private time.

"It's kind of like a double-edged sword because we want to share these great times," the 31-year-old soon-to-be divorced newlywed said. "But then when you want to kind of have some time for yourself and have some private time, you're not really allowed to, per se."
