Kim Kardashian Divorce: Over 50,000 Sign Petition to Ban E! Series

“Keeping Up With The Kardashians” should be banned from television, according to thousands of angry viewers who are petitioning for E! network to change its programming.

Cyndy Snider organized one complaint on GoPetition.com, where thousands of people have signed on to eliminate Kardashian programming.

"In a grass roots effort, we have collected [thousands of] signatures for a petition asking E! Entertainment to remove the Kardashian suite of shows from their programming," Snider said in a statement, according to Yahoo! TV reports. "We feel that these shows are mostly staged and place an emphasis on vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption."

Snider said the programming has the ability to impact American youth.

"While some may have begun watching the spectacle as mindless entertainment or as a sort of 'reality satire,' it is a sad truth that many young people are looking up to this family and are modeling their appearance and behavior after them,” Snider said. "I'll remind you here that the Kardashian family fame largely started with a 'leaked' sex tape."

Although various campaigns to eliminate Kardashian programming have circulated the web, one that began on Nov. 2 and is targeting E! networks has gained 51,064 signatures.

The petition addressed to E! online read, “ We are respectfully requesting that your network find other shows to Air. Keeping up with the Kardashians is just not viewing that we the public, would like to see from your network. Enough is enough.”

The public backlash began with Kim, who announced that she filed for divorce from Kris Humphries after a 72-day marriage that was turned into a television special. The soon-to-be divorced newlywed is also receiving backlash for her current role in Tyler Perry’s “The Marriage Counselor.”

Fans on Perry’s website also spoke out about the reality television star’s role in the film.

“Dear Mr. Perry, I've supported all of your movies and plays over the years. However, your new movie "The Marriage Counselor" will be one that I will not support since Kim Kardashian is set to star in it,” wrote a fan wrote on Perry’s website. “Please do not give into the hype of this superficial person. She's been divorced (now twice) at only 31 years old and she is only famous because of a sex tape!”
