Kim Kardashian Gets 'Furry' Present From Animal Rights Group PETA

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has sent soon-to-be newlyweds Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries a “furry” wedding present.

The animal rights group wanted to congratulate the couple on their up-coming nuptials with a special gift – a luxurious faux fur throw blanket, from the Couture Collection of Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Furs, OK! Magazine reported.

“Today’s luxurious faux furs make it easy for anybody to keep up with the Kardashians. We hope that every time Kim looks at her beautiful gift, she thinks about the animals who were electrocuted, stomped, or skinned alive for the real fur she has favored in the past and she decides that in her new life as Mrs. Humphries she will only go with the faux,” PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk told OK!.

PETA is no stranger to the Kardashians – in 2008 Khloe Kardashian Odom posed nude for the organization’s anti-fur campaign: “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur.”

Kim Kardashian and her New Jersey Nets fiancé will be married on August 20.

PETA is the largest animal rights association in the world, with over two million members and supporters.

The group focuses its attention on the four areas in which the greatest number of animals are harmed over the longest periods of time: factory farms, clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry.

PETA also crusades against the inhumane killing of beavers, birds, and other “pests” as well as the cruelty towards cats, dogs and other domesticated animals.

The organization spreads its campaign through research, legislation, public education, special events, cruelty investigations, animal rescue, celebrity involvement, and protest movements.
