Kim Kardashian Statue Makes Waves, Sculptor Inspired by Pregnant Celeb

A nude statue of Kim Kardashian made its debut at a Los Angeles art house on Wednesday and it is drawing a lot of attention.

Famed celebrity sculptor Daniel Edwards created the statue as a means to uncover the media's criticism of Kardashian's weight while pregnant, according to the artist.

"I was inspired by the beauty of Kim Kardashian and felt quite put-off by the media's criticism of her weight gain during pregnancy," Edwards said in a statement released by his PR firm, Cory Allen Contemporary, via ABC News. "Such criticism should be off limits."

"We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity's most intimate moments," Cory Allen added. "Daniel visually captures 'that' intimacy."

The life-sized figure entitled "L.A. Fertility" is an image of the 32-year-old reality star in a walking pose without arms.

It was unveiled at Los Angeles' LAB ART Gallery where art gazers are urged to rub its enormous belly for good luck, according to The New York Daily News.

Further discussing his latest art work, Edwards pointed to negative press Kardashian has received over her maternity fashion choices.

"People tend to look at the parts, like the creases in her armpits, or how she wore a dress that makes her look like a killer whale," said the artist speaking to L.A. Magazine. "I'm stripping it of the details people get stuck on, so they can see the beauty."

Kardashian is not the first high-profile female Edwards has used as inspiration in his art. The sculptor has also a life-sized statue of Britney Spears appearing naked as she gave birth to her son Sean Preston.

Edwards has also sculpted pieces of Angelina Jolie and Paris Hilton.

Meanwhile, Kardashian has not commented on the artwork by Edwards. The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star is expecting her first child with Kanye West sometime in July.

However, on Thursday, the expectant reality star took aim at paparazzi, claiming that they threatened her when she prevented them from taking photos.

"I wouldn't let the paps get a pic of me today & they threatened my life & said if I continue to block shots then they will make my world dangerous to live in," said the actress on Twitter. "How dare they threaten mylife & my unborn child! This has gotten way out of control!"

Similar to many other celebrities, Kardashian went on to admonish the media's influence on the day-to-day lives of the famous.

"What will it take for there to be laws put in place to prevent this behavior," she asked on Twitter.
