Laila Ali Explains Calling Kim Kardashian's Baby Name 'Stupid'
Laila Ali, the 35-year-old professional boxer and mother of two, is clarifying her thoughts about calling Kim Kardashian's daughter's name North West stupid.
"Speaking very candidly and honestly as I always do … knowing how cruel the world is and the bullying, and you know, kids have to grow up and get a job one day, I did say that I think some of these name choices are stupid," Ali admitted to radio personality Egypt Sherrod recently.
Kardashian, 32, and her boyfriend, rapper Kanye West, 36, welcomed North West into the world last June. Ali recently spoke about how she felt about the name.

"I don't care who you are, that's just stupid … period," Ali told HipHollywood.com recently.
However, the boxer admitted that she may have been wrong to make the statements that she did.
"I do realize that it was a poor choice of words … and it wasn't to single out Kim or Kanye," she told Sherrod. "I actually mentioned a bunch of names, not just the name North. It was a general opinion to a question that I was asked."
Kris Jenner, the 57-year-old Kardashian matriarch, previously explained the meaning behind her granddaughter's name.
"I love the name North. I'm pro North, absolutely, the way she explained it to me was that North means highest power," Jenner said on "The View" after her granddaughter was born. "And she says North is their highest point together, and I thought that was really sweet."
Still, the talk show's host Barbara Walters had questions about the name.
"I mean it's funny, but do you want your child named North West," Walters questioned about the baby.
However, Jenner defended her granddaughter's unique name.
"You don't walk around calling somebody, 'Hi, North West,'" Jenner said on "The View." "You know, it's just North."
