Lecrae Explains Why He Doesn't Showcase Kids on Social Media
If you scroll through the social media accounts of rapper Lecrae, the father of three doesn't feature images of his children often. Now, he is revealing why.
When St. Louis rapper Thi'sl took to Twitter to honor his fellow Christian artist Lecrae for being a good father who makes time for his three children in the midst of a busy career, the latter revealed why he doesn't share that part of his life on social media more.
"I try to keep them off socials cause they don't like the attention," he explained.
Thi'sl said he wanted to honor Lecrae for exceptional parenting because it was inspiring to him.
"I've always been super challenged and encouraged by that," he said. "It's beautiful to see."
The conversation caused fellow rapper and Lecrae's Reach Records artist Alex Medina to chime in. Medina said he witnessed Lecrae make time for his family amid busy career obligations firsthand.
"First time I went on tour seeing him w. fam turned world upside down," he tweeted in response to the message. "Give everything on stage.. drained.. then family time."
In a previous interview with The Christian Post, the rapper spoke about making his children a priority over his career.
"You have to prioritize and you have to realize that family is a priority and that it comes before [your career]," he said. "The world can get another artist, but my kids can't get another father. I have to be consistent and present for them and make sure that they don't feel like they're playing second tier to anything else that I have going on other than their mother who comes number one."
The rapper and author has pursued music professionally for as long as his children can remember. For that reason, the fact that he is a famous rapper doesn't phase them.
"Well, my kids don't know any different, this is all they've ever known. They've grown up with me doing concerts," he previously told Essence. "They've grown up with me—well, they're not grown up, they're still little bitties. They just think 'wow, more people know my dad than normal, but no big deal.'"
