New Superman Film 'Man of Steel' Premiere Pushed Back to 2013

Fans that have been waiting five years for the rebooted Superman film are to be disappointed and should no longer expect a December 2012 debut. Warner Bros film studios announced on Thursday that the Man of Steel movie premiere will be pushed back to June 2013.

Rumors have blamed issues with the film’s script for the delay. For this reason, new collaborators and screenplay writers may have been added into the mix, according to MTV.

Although there was no official statement released from Warner Bros, a spokeswoman from the studios said the postponement was due to a scheduling conflict. According to The New York Times, the December 2012 release date was never made official.

Although Warner Bros gave it the tentative 2012 release another major blockbuster, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure managed to secure the date first.

So instead of releasing two major motion pictures in the same month, the film studio decided to premiere the Superman Man of Steel movie the following summer.

The re-booted version is being produced by Christopher Nolan, the film director, screenwriter and producer who is responsible for rebooting the 2006-2012 Batman film series. Nolan will work alongside Zack Snyder, who worked on action films Watchmen and Suckerpunch.

In the re-created film series, Superman will be played by Henry Cavill. Cavill is the star of the Showtime television series, Tudors.

With Christian Bale appearing as Batman and British-American Andrew Garfield as Spiderman, Cavill will be the third United Kingdom actor playing a major American superhero.

The Lois Lane to Cavill’s Superman will be played by Amy Adams who was seen in the 2010 boxing film, The Fighter.

Although The New York Times reports that the 2013 summer film calendar has yet to be filled, Marvel Comics announced that the next installment of the Iron Man series may be released a month before Man of Steel.
