Meek Mills Defends Chris Brown and Drake, Reveals Phone Call With Singer

Meek Mills, 26-year-old Philadelphia rapper, is defending both Chris Brown and Drake after a bottle-throwing incident at a New York City nightclub resulted in injuries to innocent bystanders and blame being placed on the famous musicians.

Days after Brown, 23, posted pictures of the chin wound he apparently suffered after being caught in the middle of the violent bottle-throwing incident at WIP nightclub in downtown NYC, reports surfaced about Mills and Drake having a hand in his injuries. However, Mills denied any involvement in the brawl that resulted in multiple injuries to club patrons.

Although TMZ initially reported that Brown's attorneys were looking to prove that Drake, 25, started the fight, Mills denied that either entertainer initiated the bottle throwing.

"Chris and Drake, them two was there, but it's other people that be around that take (expletive) to the next level," he told XXL magazine in a recent interview. "Things just happen in the club. I seen girls in there throwing bottles... all types of people. I never seen Chris Brown or Drake throw a bottle, and I was there."

The altercation involving Drake, Brown and Mills took place weeks after the three musicians reportedly engaged in a Twitter feud over singer Rihanna, who has been linked to them all through media reports. However, Mills said he and Brown had no issues and even spoke on the phone recently to clear up any misconceptions.

Brown, the ex-boyfriend of Rihanna who is on probation stemming from domestic violence charges after physically assaulting her in 2009, told his fans that he and Mills respected one another.

"Real respect Real," Brown tweeted about the Philadelphia rapper after the brawl took place last Thursday.

Mills elaborated on the statement further, saying that he and the Grammy Award-winning singer spoke directly after the tweet was sent.

"What [Brown] tweeted was just that me and Meek Mill ain't got no problem. I talked to him immediately after that, on the phone afterwards, like immediately," Mills revealed to XXL. "There's nothing there. Chris Brown be in clubs. He be around situations like this."

Although fans have yet to see Brown extend an olive branch to rapper Drake, Mills said this did not mean that there were any real issues between the two.

"Things get out of hand," Mills said. "That don't mean it's out of hand with me and him or whoever, not even him and Drake."
