Meredith Kercher Father Hires Literary Agent for Potential Book?

The father of Meredith Kercher, John Kercher, has reportedly hired a literary agent to represent him in a potential book deal.

According to thebookseller.com, Mr. Kercher hired agent Ben Mason to represent him in a possible book deal.

The website reports that Meredith’s father will be offering a book proposal Monday at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Mr. Kercher has already written a book based upon bedtime tales he used to tell his slain daughter.

According to the British newspaper, The Sun, Mr. Kercher told the stories to Meredith over the phone up until the time of her murder in Perugia.

The storybook is called, “The Strange Case of Miss Carla,” and follows the life of a fictional girl that travels through time.

As of now, it appears that the storybook has not been published.

Mr. Kercher has already written a tribute to his daughter, so what kind of story the proposed book remains a looming question.

It seems likely that the content for a new book could potentially deal with the painful ordeal the Kercher family has been facing since the murder of their youngest daughter, Meredith, in 2007.

Kercher was found dead in a pool of blood in the Perugia apartment she shared with American roommate Amanda Knox. In 2009, Knox, her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollectio, and Rudy Guede were all convicted for the murder of Meredith.

The Kercher family has always maintained the original murder trial and conviction of Knox was fair.

When the appeals decision was announced earlier this week Mr. Kercher told the Daily Mirror that the decision was “ludicrous.”

He said that he believed that the court ignored all the other evidence against Knox and Sollecito and said that he held out hope that the court would play it safe and uphold the conviction, or merely reduce their sentences.

He said, “There were 47 wounds on Meredith and two knives used. One person couldn’t possibly have done that. What happens now? Does that mean the police need to look for more killers?”

Prior to the appeals trial Mr. Kercher, a freelance journalist, wrote a passionate piece in the Daily Mirror about his daughter and the looming appeals case.

He stated that he understood why the world was perplexed about how a "young" and "attractive" woman like Knox could commit such a crime.

Nevertheless, he said of Knox’s 2009 conviction, “As far as we are concerned, she has been convicted of taking our precious Meredith’s life in the most hideous and bloody way.”

Mr. Kercher also used the piece to go into detail about his young daughter, her life, and her mannerisms, describing the loss of Meredith as “irredeemable.”

He said, “I cherish every memory of her short life. All we want now is the peace to be able to celebrate her life. Is that too much to ask?”
