Missing Iowa Cousins Update: Dad Feels 'Like a Suspect,' Lake Drained for Clues

Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins have been missing for six days now, and police are not any closer to finding the two little girls who have seemingly "vanished." Their families are now speaking out, and Lyric's father, Dan Morrissey, has said he feels like a suspect.

"You tell them the truth and they say, 'You're holding something back,'" Morrissey told KCCI News. "What is left to talk about? You know, we go over and over and over again. It made me feel like, 'Yeah, they're looking at me like a suspect.'"

Police, however, have not named any official suspects in the case and described it as completely baffling. "There's nothing to indicate at this time that we have anything but two missing girls," Capt. Rick Abben told ABC News. "For a lack of a better word, it's just like they vanished. There's been nothing."

The families are reportedly remaining open to authorities and trying to help in any way possible. "We've done extensive interviews, hours at a time. We've done polygraphs, we have taken many phone calls and answered many questions," Misty Morrissey told ABC News.

"We've given our phones up. All of our data has been, you know, taken off of our phones. In fact, my sister's and my phone's phones touch screens aren't working very well. So we've cooperated to the fullest," Misty explained.

The police and FBI have brought in dogs to help locate the girls who were last seen riding their bikes near a local lake. The dogs indicated a "strong possibility" that the girls were around the lake at the time of their disappearance. Officials have begun draining the lake in order to look for further clues.

"I don't think they're in the lake, not at all, but it is just like a dead end as far as we know," Dan Morrissey told the Associated Press. "We've never gone through anything like this. It's hard enough just to get up and deal with the reality that your daughter is gone."

Anyone with information regarding the girls is encouraged to call the Evansdale Police Department at (319) 232-6682.
