'Modern Warfare 3' Release Date: New Controversial Scene Similar to 'No Russian' Mission (VIDEOS)

A new scene in Activision's upcoming “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” is just as controversial as the last entry's ‘No Russian' mission.

The new sequence shows a family of tourists in London on a trip to see Big Ben. Players must sit and watch as the father, who is filming with his camera, follow his daughter and the girl's mother around town.

Suddenly, a truck pulls up and explodes beside them, releasing some sort of toxic gas. Some have said this sequence went too far.

“I know I haven't see it in the context of the game, but this is just getting a little bit sick now,” said forum user adgr19 on Computer and Video Games’ website.

Forum user spooney100 disagreed with the consensus: "[I] don't see how this is sick? Unfortunately we live in [a] world where terrorist activities are much much worse."

The new sequence may prove to be uncomfortable for some gamers; however, there is no update on whether the scene can be skipped.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” also faced some scrutiny from the public over its 'No Russian' level.

Players were tasked with entering a crowded Moscow airport and gunning down a sea of people. Although players were not forced to kill the civilians, the level still garnered some distaste for its violent activity.

The "Call of Duty" video game series stands as the most popular and successful franchise today, but it also gives the public a grim reminder of the effects of global terrorism and war.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" is set for release next Tuesday on the XBox 360 and PS3. The game is rated M for mature.
