MTV Cancels 'Jersey Shore,' Cast Reacts
MTV's long running reality TV show, "Jersey Shore," has been canceled by the network after six seasons, according to reports.
The controversial show, dubbed a cultural phenomenon by some, was canceled on Thursday three years after it first debuted on MTV. Cast members confirmed the news via social networking site Twitter.
"Yes, sadly it's true. This upcoming season of Jersey Shore will be our last. But it was fricken INSANE. I will always love my roomies!" Nicole "Snooki" Pollizzi tweeted.

The show followed the wild lives of eight young New Jersey natives, often referred to as "guidos" and "guidettes," who lived in a "Real World"-type setting in a house located on the Jersey Shore. Despite the constant brawls and drunken antics, viewers witnessed fun-loving young adults bond like family and grow with one another over six seasons.
Although cast members have constantly been subject to mockery and criticisms over what critics believe is the glorification of bad behavior, the show has proven to be a lucrative platform, with the majority of the cast landing new job opportunities and taking home high incomes.
"Jersey Shore" salaries reportedly range from $40,000 to $150,000 per episode, followed by two separate bonuses which range from $200,000 to $400,000 given to each cast member both at the beginning and end of each season.
Pauly D, Snooki, and "JWoww," whose real name is Jennifer Farley, are among the few cast members who have received their very own spin-off shows "Snooki & JWoww" and "The Pauly D Project."
MTV will air the final installment of "Jersey Shore" on October 4.
