'Muslims for Christians' NGO Touted by Egyptian Writer to 'Protect Rights' of Egypt's Christians
The formation of a non-governmental organization called "Muslims for Christians" has been touted by Egyptian political writer Mamoun Fandy, who believes the body could work on monitoring and documenting sectarian practices against Christians in Egypt and make "the protection of their rights a duty for every Muslim Egyptian."
"Are there any volunteers to register it?" Fandy asked on his Facebook account.
He pointed out that the name of the organization, "Muslims for Christians," does not mean that the organization will not include Christians in its membership; rather it means that more commitment will be placed on the majority.

Fandy stressed that Egypt is currently being exposed to great danger and that there must be efforts to maintain its national fabric.
Over recent weeks Christian Copts have been subjected to frequent attacks and constant threats since the armed forces deposed former president Mohamed Morsi on July 3, submitting to the demands of millions of Egyptians who took to the streets calling for his downfall.
The most prominent of these attacks were the killing of four Copts in Dabaaya village in Luxor [southern Egypt], the assassination of a Coptic priest, and the beheading of a Coptic citizen in northern Sinai. These were in addition to attacks on churches and threats against Copts in other provinces.
