New York City Terror Attack News: Singer Josh Groban Recounts Terrifying Incident
A terror attack devastated New York last Oct. 31, when a truck plowed down a bike and pedestrian lane during the busy hours of Manhattan. The incident left eight people dead as they had been unable to avoid the oncoming vehicle due to the sudden shift in direction. Singer Josh Groban was near the area when it happened, as he was out on an afternoon walk with his dog.
Groban took to social media to recount the devastation, as well as extend his concern for the well-being of those whose family and friends were in the area.
"Oh my god I just heard gun shots and ran with my dog. Downtown." Tony nominee Groban posted on his Twitter. "I hope everyone's ok. Was half a block from me, didn't see it but heard 8-19 quick rounds fired off. Be safe with your kids out there. I'm shaking. That's the corner I was supposed to have my coffee but my dog pulled me into the park half a block away 10 min before shooting."
Aside from his account of the incident, Groban also posted a video of the quick response of the local authorities. The act of terror happened within the vicinity of the World Trade Center memorial and left a dozen more injured.
According to Business Insider, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that there will be an ongoing investigation. For the meantime, the incident is considered as an act of terror that was aimed at innocent civilians.
Furthermore, New York's police have also announced that they have one suspect in custody and that the threat is over. The identity of the suspect has yet to be released, but he was arrested after a uniformed officer fired his gun. The 29-year-old man rammed the truck, while also brandishing fake guns.
