Nexus 5 Release Date for Sprint Coming Soon, Press Images Reveal Carrier Affiliation

The Nexus 5 will most likely be released to Sprint customers later this year.

Several press images surfaced on the internet earlier this week indicating that carrier will end up offering the device after it is released by Google.

The pictures were discovered by an Android Headlines tipster. One of the images shows the handset next to a deck of cards for size comparison. The leak also indicates that Sprint will carry the Nexus 5 in white.

Other details on the Sprint version of the Nexus 5 are not available at this time.

A Google Nexus 5 pre-registration page was put up by a Canadian carrier earlier this week hinting at an imminent release date for the device.

WIND Mobile posted up a link on their Facebook that featured this page for those interested in purchasing the Nexus 5 when it is released later this year. It also included the tagline "Google Nexus 5. The smart, new phone made to capture the moments that matter."

The pre-registration page also revealed the official specs for the Nexus 5.

The listed specifications included a 4.95-inch 1920x1080 display at 445 ppi, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, an 8-megapixel rear shooter, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, 2GB RAM, micro USB, SlimPort enabled, dual-microphones, ceramic power and volume buttons, and Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box.

WIND Mobile could have based this specs list on some of the recent rumors. However, there's no way to really tell at this time whether this information is legitimate or not.

The Nexus 5 also showed up in U.K. retailer Carphone Warehouse's database this week. The device was listed as LGNexus5Whit confirming that the white version actually exists. The post also revealed that the retailer currently has 1500 units in stock, which proves that the official launch date can't be that far away.
