Occupy Wall Street Protestors Dress As 'Corporate Zombies'
As the “Occupy Wall Street” protest enters its third week, showing no signs of slowing down, protestors have decided to use a metaphorical approach to their movement today by dressing up as what they call “corporate zombies.”
Patrick Bruner, a spokesman for the protesting group, said that demonstrators are being urged to dress in business attire and paint their faces white with blood while holding monopoly money so as to symbolize a “corporate zombie.”
Mercury Cloud, part of the arts and culture working group of the movement told The Christian Post that the purpose of today’s demonstration is to make a visual metaphorical statement that corporations are living entities without hearts, similar to zombies.

“When people in this area walk down this street and they see this perhaps it will register visually and it will give people an image to think about what the similarities are between a corporation and a zombie,” Cloud told CP.
Cloud compared corporations to zombies arguing corporations maintain an insatiable and unquenchable appetite for money and profit, similar to that of a zombie that eats flesh to remain alive.
When asked how people have been responding to the protest, Cloud responded that there has been a lot of support, even from those on Wall Street. He says people realize things need to change.
Cloud told the CP, “People know there is a change coming and that there needs to be a change and hopefully we can do it all together and come up with a system that is healthier for everyone on the planet.”
Another protestor, Trevor Roulstin, told the CP that he came dressed up today to show people on Wall Street a “mirror image” of themselves.
Roulstin echoed Cloud’s comments that the community at large has been very supportive of the movement.
Today’s demonstration follows a tumultuous weekend where over 700 protestors were arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge for disorderly conduct and blocking traffic.
Although protestors have been arrested, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said that the NYPD has no problem with the demonstration the Associated Press wrote.
“If it is a lawful demonstration, we help facilitate,” Browne said. He explained that the NYPD gets involved when protestors behave unlawfully.
The “Occupy Wall Street” movement has gained momentum over the weeks and has spread to cities all over the country. Protests are now being carried out in Boston, Mass., Los Angeles, Calif., Chicago, Ill., and Columbus, Ohio.
A rally is also planned for later this month in Toronto, Canada.
