Paula Deen 'Dancing With The Stars' Refusal: 'Not Appropriate'

Paula Deen turned down an opportunity to compete on of ABC's hit show "Dancing With The Stars" this season.

The celebrity chef is still suffering from backlash resulting in her admission to using the n-word in the past.

Deen's controversial reveal occurred during a lawsuit deposition -- her former employee Lisa Jackson filed the suit, which alleges discrimination and racism at two of Deen's restaurants.

As a result, the Southern food specialist decided against hitting the ballroom on "DWTS."

"The dance floor is not the appropriate forum for her," a source close to Deen told Us Magazine.

Following Deen's legal troubles, her television show "Paula's Home Cooking" was not renewed for contract at the Food Network.

Additionally, the 66-year-old celebrity chef was dropped from sponsors including Smithfield Foods, Sears, and many others.

Meanwhile, "Dancing With The Stars" is not the only appearance Deen has skipped. The Savannah, Ga. native was slated to appear at the New York City Food & Wine festival this fall but pulled out of the Food Network-sponsored event.

An update appeared on the event's website that read, "Paula Deen has informed us that she will not be appearing at this year's Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, which she has tirelessly supported year in and year out. While we are disappointed, we understand and support her decision."

Also backed by the magazine Food & Wine, the sixth annual Wine & Food festival will take place throughout NYC from Oct. 17 to the 20.
