'Point of Grace' Encourages 1,200 Military Wives

Some 1,200 wives of soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and guardsmen are gathering in Dallas beginning Thursday, Veterans Day, for a ministry event that seeks to encourage and refresh them through the word of God.

The four-day conference is hosted by the Protestant Women of the Chapel International (PWOC), a women's military ministry for the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. The theme for the event is "Shine in the Light of His Glory," taken from Isaiah 60:1-2 and Matthew 5:13-16.

Award-winning all ladies Christian music group Point of Grace will perform at the conference.

"We are really excited to be able to sing to over a thousand military wives at this conference and have the opportunity to encourage them, give them hope, and remind them that they aren't in this alone," said Denise Jones, a member of Point of Grace, to The Christian Post. "The message that we always want to bring is that we don't walk alone and we are dependent on a God who is big enough to hold everything."

Jones said the group will sing the song, "He Holds Everything," to remind the military wives that there is nothing that God doesn't hold in His hands and they can trust Him. The group will also sing "There is Nothing Greater than Grace" and "Love and Laundry," a "fun" song military wives who likely run the household alone can relate to, said Jones.

Point of Grace is participating in the PWOC event through its partnership with the American Bible Society's military ministry. This Christmas season, American Bible Society will go on tour with Point of Grace to talk to the group's fans about the spiritual needs of military families. ABS will encourage concertgoers to help provide biblical resources to military families.

During the PWOC 2010 International Conference, ABS will debut its new course for military wives called "Engage your Strength," which combines a strength finder assessment and Scripture engagement. The Bible ministry will also launch Rezilient Life, a new online Bible resource for military teens. The free tool offers teens help as they struggle with eight spiritual injuries identified by active-duty military family members: anger, grief, doubt, guilt, fear of death, life as unfair, hopelessness, and meaninglessness.

"I just pray that this weekend is one that is uplifting and encouraging to them and a chance for them to be reminded that they're not walking this journey alone and they're with others who are in similar situations," said Jones. "We are honored to be a part of it."
