Ray Comfort: Scientists Predicting Fiery End of the World, but Christians Offer Hope
While some scientists are predicting a fiery end of the world, Christians have a contrasting message and place their trust in Jesus Christ, says evangelist Ray Comfort.
"The doom and gloom boys are at it again. In contrast, what a wonderful and glorious hope is promised to the Christian," Comfort wrote on Facebook on Sunday, linking to an article in the MailOnline warning of the eventual destruction of the planet.
Scientists, who published their research in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics, recently argued that within 5 billion years the sun will grow to a size hundreds of times bigger than it is today, and will swallow up Mercury and Venus before likely burning what's left of the Earth.

Professor Leen Decin, from the KU Leuven Institute of Astronomy, said, "Five billion years from now, the sun will have grown into a red giant star, more than a hundred times larger than its current size.
"It will also experience an intense mass loss through a very strong stellar wind. The end product of its evolution, seven billion years from now, will be a tiny white dwarf star," Decin added.
"This will be about the size of the Earth, but much heavier: one teaspoon of white dwarf material weighs about five tonnes."
Although Decin admits he doesn't know what will happen to Earth, the sun's growth, he claims, will "probably destroy any form of life on our planet."
"But will the Earth's rocky core survive the red giant phase and continue orbiting the white dwarf?" he asked.
Comfort and his Living Waters ministry have long been warning that the only hope for people is found in turning to Jesus. He recently released the "The Atheist Delusion," a documentary film in which he says he's able to "destroy atheism with one scientific question."
"From the start, we were concerned that people wouldn't take seriously a movie that 'destroys atheism with one scientific question.' But it does exactly that by scientifically confirming the existence of God," Comfort said in a statement shared with The Christian Post back in September.
He said that while his film is unlikely to change the minds of "closed-minded atheists," he believes many others will indeed offer themselves to the hope found in Christianity.
"Countless others, tempted to believe the ridiculous lie of atheism, are open-minded, and will be convinced by seeing the irrefutable proof for the existence of God," he added at the time.
Comfort is a Young Earth Creationist, arguing that the accounts of how the Earth was created in Genesis are literally true, and has claimed that those who do not believe the same are calling "Jesus a liar."
