Poll: Michele Bachmann in Second Place For GOP 2012 Race

A national poll revealed that Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann is currently second place for the Republican presidential nomination with support from 16 percent of GOP primary voters.

According to the Wall Street Journal/NBC poll this week, Bachmann trails front-runner for the Republican primary vote Mitt Romney, who leads with 30 percent of GOP primary voters.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who still hasn't decided whether to actually run, trails both candidates with an 11 percent vote.

President Obama currently leads both Republican challengers as polls showed 48 percent of individuals would vote for him today as opposed to 41 percent for Romney. Obama would also defeat Bachmann by a 50 to 35 percent vote.

The poll was conducted among 1,000 adults from July 14-17. It has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.
